The Opportunity

The Clyde & Delpha Beasley Hicks Endowed Scholarship was established in 1985 by Basil V. Hicks Sr. and his wife Dale, and was named in tribute to Basil's parents in 2000. Basil and brothers Doin and Roy attended Arkansas College, now Lyon College, and Doin and Roy each met his spouse at AC. Basil, Doin, his wife Wanda, Roy, and his wife Maxine, all served the college in various volunteer roles as alumni, a tradition continued by Roy and Maxine's daughter Melissa, also a Lyon College graduate. The Hicks Endowed Scholarship is a tangible representation of the Hicks's shared values of education and family. It stands as a testament to the family's grit and compassion, providing financial assistance for deserving Lyon students, now and in the future.

The Clyde & Delpha Beasley Hicks Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to help deserving students access a Lyon College education.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for giving in tribute to Dr. Doin Hicks, Class of 1953. Your support for the Hicks Endowed Scholarship strengthens his legacy by underscoring the importance of education and family.

Why are donations necessary?

Nearly 100 percent of Lyon students receive some form of financial aid, and endowed scholarships insure the college's ability to provide this financial support for generations to come. Dr. Doin Hicks, Class of 1953, was a longtime champion of the Hicks Scholarship, encouraging family and friends to support the endowment at every opportunity. Doin passed away June 9, 2023. Prior to his passing, Dr. Hicks penned his own obituary, and, true to form, encouraged others "who wish to remember Doin in a special way" to give to the Hicks Endowed Scholarship.
